About the Book :
When Philip Pirrip--nicknamed Pip--is forced by an escaped convict to steal food and supplies from his meager home, he doesn't know that this event will transform his life. One of Dickens's most popular novels, Great Expectations follows the orphaned Pip as he grows from poverty into a gentleman, becoming entangled with the strange Miss Havisham and her beautiful but coldhearted ward, Estella, and coming into a fortune from an unknown benefactor. This engrossing work, which recently celebrated its 150th birthday, remains one of Dickens's best.

Charles Dickens produces the best of the entertaining novels and Great Expectation can be considered as one of the example. Great Expectations takes us to the sights, sounds and smells of 19th Century London. This is the story of Pip Phirrip who is the protagonist as well as the narrator of the story. He tells us the events of his life since he was a 7-year-old till mid-thirties. He is an orphan and lives with her cruel sister in poverty. Pip grows up in harsh conditions. She beats him up at small things and says that its all for his well being. Joe, her husband and Pip are good friends. One day, he is beaten a lot and then he escapes from her house. He reaches to graveyard but there he meets with an escaped thief who puts demands on him. Pip helps the criminal hide and even brings him food. Pip starts working for Miss Havisham. Miss Havisham lives in a large exotic building with her adopted daughter Estella. Pip falls in love with Estella but she hates men. Pip truly loves Estella and wants her to change her views about men. He loves her so much that he is ready to do anything for her. He decides to become a gentleman so as to win Estella’s heart. A benefactor gives money to Pip to go to London and learn how to be a gentleman. He thinks that the benefactor is Miss Havisham but no he is wrong. He is someone else. I am not uncovering the end if Pip is able to get married to Estella? If you really excited to get the answers, then pick up the book and read it at least few pages. Once you start reading, you will not be able to put it down. Charles Dickens is genius in turning a simple story of Pip, his unfulfilled childhood and true love for Estella into such an illuminating love story with simple prose and effective conversations that conquers the reader’s heart.
