The mountain contains ten billion dollar's worth of the world's most valuable mineral, platinum. "Not only exciting but truly surprising"--Atlantic. Now the only question is, how to get hold of it. 295The Dogs of War by Frederick Forsyth is an intricate cultural novel which focuses on the different concepts that underlie politics across the world in a central African location. The story is set in several exotic locations throughout Europe and Africa in early 60’s. Forsythe manages to introduce an amazing amount of detail about mining, finance and smuggling. A story that is built with suspense and intrigue. The climax, as usual, will surprise you. The main character is Cat Shannon. He is hired by a British business tycoon, James Manson, to overthrow the ruthless Communist dictator of the African State of Zangaro. Most of the novel revolves around Shannon's preparations for the military coup. The story is strongly created and moved through the book. I enjoy reading it again and again. The Dogs of war is a classic novel, well blended with spine chilling experiences and happy moments. Its absolutely a fine read.
