Sir H. Rider Haggard is is best known for his African adventure novels. ‘King Solomon’s Mines’ is an adventure story of lost civilizations, great treasures, and plenty of action. The book starts little slow but it but it goes fats as the story progresses. The story opens with the introduction of Mr. Allan Quatermai, a middle aged man who is a big game-hunter. His wife is no more and his only son is studying medicine. He is approached by Henry Curtis, a rich man to go in search of diamond mines of King Solomon and also his lost brother. He is accompanied by Captain John Good, a Royal Navy Officer. The three set off for the journey starting from desert. As you follow the journey, you will have fun coming along the way. Will they ever find the amazing treasures in King Solomon's Mines? To know this, read this book. You will love the book once you start reading. The story is presented as a memoir of Mr. Quatermain's and his notes to the reader. I found the character of Mr. Quatermain, filled with honesty and humility. Some unexpected humour is there at the expense of Captain Good. The essence of the story is the adventure of an elephant hunter as his safari heads into the interior of South Africa in search of diamond mine. All in all, I would definitely recommend this book to fans of adventure stories.
