Melanie Graham is thrilled that she's finally found something she's good at and loves--exercise riding racehorses. In fact, Melanie enjoys it so much, she dreams of becoming a jockey. Her Aunt Ashleigh says Melanie has a gift. Melanie begins to follow a strict diet and exercise regime appropriate for a professional jockey. But her competitiveness and intensity are alienating Melanie from her closest friends, especially Kevin McLean. It takes a near disaster to show Melanie that she needs to slow down.

Joanna Campbell has contributed to Dead Heat . Joanna Campbell appears here with her six-year-old Thoroughbred, Meyersville Magic, known around the barn as CC. He's a son of Horatius out of Northwich by Timothy's Champ and is owned by Cathy Day. Formerly trained for racing, he is now being trained for eventing. Last Year he was the Maine Entry Level Champion in Combined Training.
