  'The Associate' has potential

  John Grisham is out with yet another legal thriller in form of The Associate. I must confess that I am indeed an avid Grisham fan. Having read some of his books like 'The Pelican Brief' and 'The Firm', I got really hooked to his style of writing. Grisham brings out the best from the legal profession and turns it into an attention-grabbing read. The Associate is about a budding legal professional and Yale Law School Graduate Kyle McAvoy who is just out of law school. He sees himself as some one who has an endless potential along with a bright legal career ahead of him. However, he ends up being black mailed about an incriminating college incident. Kyle is forced to take up a job at on of the biggest Wall Street law firms to steal vital information about a high profile $800 billion law suit involving two defence contractors, who want to gain an immense advantage in the weapons market. Kyle is supposed to leak out confidential information about the defence contract if he wants the video to remain secret or face some unpleasant consequences. Kyle is now caught between the dark forces and the law enforcement in the form of the FBI. However, in this book, some of the characters are less developed than they should be. It does reminisce one of his earlier book 'The Firm' and some of the readers may wonder and the lacklustre and inconclusive ending. Nevertheless, Grisham takes his pick at the American legal system and as in his earlier books tries to pinpoint its varied shortcomings. The Associate also delves on the exploitation of younger lawyers by mega firms for multiplying income. You will surely like this book as Grisham's earlier books, but at the same time, you would rather expect Grisham to write a more conclusive ending this time.
