It talks about issues like media concentration, international imbalance, community media; personalities like Steve Case, Ted Turner, Walt Disney and Rupert Murdoch who changed the face of media. It does not ignore MacBride Commission and also gives information about codes of ethics that govern the Fourth Estate. The glossary covers both old and new terms, including those related to Internet and broadband. The impact of convergence of technology on overall media is highlighted in the book. This book captures the changes that came about in the world of broadcasting, as a result of major political changes in Eastern Europe and Central Asia.

About the Author
K.M. Shrivastava is Professor, Indian Institute of Mass Communication, New Delhi / Dhenkanal (Professor-in-Charge). He had worked as a journalist in New Delhi for about a decade before becoming the Head of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, Punjabi University, Patiala (Punjab). As a journalist he worked for a regional newspaper, a national news feature syndicate, a rural magazine and a national news agency. He contributed to several media journals and covered Parliament for All India Radio and Doordarshan. He has been visiting scholar at University of Canberra and a visiting fellow at Nagpur University. He has been elected a member of International Council of International Association of Media and Communication Research (IAMCR) for two terms. He is the author of several books on journalism and mass communication.
