While doing research as a medical student at Yale and then as a resident and faculty member at Harvard, Louann Brizendine discovered that almost all of the clinical data in existence on neurology, psychology, and neurobiology focused exclusively on males. In response to the overwhelming need for information on the female mind, Brizendine established the first clinic in the country to study and treat women's brain function. At the same time, The National Institutes of Health began including female subjects in almost all of its studies for the first time. The result has been an explosion of new data on the female brain in recent years.
In" The Female Brain, Dr. Brizendine distills all of this information in a highly accessible way in order to educate women about their unique brain-body-behavior. For instance, why are women more verbal than men? Why do women remember details of fights that men can't remember at all? Why do women tend to form deeper bonds with their female friends than men do with their male counterparts? Dr. Brizendine explores these questions and many others that have stumped the sexes throughout the ages.
This revolutionary book combines two decades of Brizendine's own work, real-life stories from her clinical practice, and all of the latest information from the scientific community at large to provide a truly comprehensive look at the way women's minds work.

Now, pioneering neuropsychiatrist Louann Brizendine, M.D., brings together the latest findings to show how the unique structure of the female brain determines how women think, what they value, how they communicate, and who they love. When I first picked up the book, I was not sure if I would be interested to complete the book. This was just because of some negative that I read on many sites. But After reading few pages, I started liking the book. It was hard to put down the book as it illustrates women’s mind. I finished the book in just two sittings and really loved “The Female Brain” by Louann Brizendine, a neuropsychiatrist at the University of California. Louann has written this book in a cool and playful style with relevant facts and illustrations. This book follows the brain development of women’s brain from birth to marriage and then from motherhood to menopause and so on. Louann presents his own unique perspective on women. This book presents a chapter-by-chapter description of the phases which women go through during the course of their lives. The book verifies that boys are not only larger, but also more aggressive, more disruptive, and less mentally mature than girls of the same ageThe book verifies that boys are not only larger, but also more aggressive, more disruptive, and less mentally mature than girls of the same age. Few segments also address many of the major issues surrounding the interaction of the endocrinological and neurological systems. This book gives lot of references from a variety of sources including evolutionary biology, anthropology and neurology. This book is worth owning for anyone who wants to understand women better and how they change over the years. Don’t miss it, this is a great book to read and share.
