After Mario Puzo wrote his internationally acclaimed The Godfather, he has often been imitated but never equaled. Puzo's classic novel, The Sicilian, stands as a cornerstone of his work--a lushly romantic, unforgettable tale of bloodshed, justice, and treachery. . . .
The year is 1950. Michael Corleone is nearing the end of his exile in Sicily. The Godfather has commanded Michael to bring a young Sicilian bandit named Salvatore Guiliano back with him to America. But Guiliano is a man entwined in a bloody web of violence and vendettas. In Sicily, Guiliano is a modern day Robin Hood who has defied corruption--and defied the Cosa Nostra. Now, in the land of mist-shrouded mountains and ancient ruins, Michael Corleone's fate is entwined with the dangerous legend of Salvatore Guiliano: warrior, lover, and the ultimate Siciliano.

Mario Puzo has written an all time favorite novel that goes against time. The Sicilian is the story of a peasant Salvatore Guiliano, a twenty years old simple boy. He lives in Sicily. The story is set in 1940. He has a friend Gaspare Pisciotta. One day, Salvatore and Gapare are arrested by police for smuggling and killing the police. They escape from the police and reach their hometown Montelepre. There he becomes a bandit. He releases a dozen of bandits from a prison. He also robs the black market caravan and gives the articles to the poor. By his good works, he becomes a reputed badit among all. He has put his life in danger. The police, the Mafia’s and the catholic churches are behind him to shot him dead. Then arrives Michael Corleone, the son of Don Vito Corleone. He tries to save his life and all the hopes of survival of Salvatore is on Michael. He flies a airplane that will take Salvatore to freedom. This is an interesting race against time for Salvatore. The end is highly gripping that will take all your attention. This is a superb book. Read it……..
