Milly Lee's mother was eight years old in 1906, when San Francisco was shaken by a powerful earthquake. Buildings fell, fires flared, and the city burned for several days.
This is the stirring story of one Chinese American family who had to leave their home in Chinatown on that early morning to join hundreds of other refugees making their way to safety.

Yangsook Choi has contributed to Earthquake as an illustrator. Yangsook Choi grew up in Seoul, Korea. She has written and illustrated several books for young readers, including "The Sun Girl and the Moon Boy" and "Good-bye, 382 Shin Dang Dong" by Frances Park and Ginger Park. The first book she illustrated, "Nim and the War Effort" by Milly Lee, was an ALA Notable Book and an IRA-CBC Children's Book Award Winner.
