This journal is your guidebook for the confirmation journey, giving you helpful background information, scriptures, stories, and prayers; asking you some important questions; and providing space for you to write, draw doodle, and reflect about God and faith.
This confirmation guide, based on the United Church of Christ Statement of Faith, is a thorough, multifaceted resource designed to assist congregations in leading youth ages 12 to 16 in faith formation. The Affirming Faith resources approach confirmation as a lifelong process and focus on the learning that happens in the full life of a congregation.

These resources were written by lay and clergy youth leaders, based on extensive research into confirmation practices throughout the United Church of Christ. The guide includes planning helps for retreats, field trips, mentoring, and witness and service projects, as well as guidelines for youth leaders. It also includes helps for congregations that will use mentors, adults who will be companions in faith throughout the confirmation process. in addition to using Scripture experientially, these resources employ a teaching-learning model that involves all persons in teaching and learning.

Affirming Faith consists of two coordinated components. A Congregation's Guide to Confirmation is for leaders, complete with session plans, retreat plans, biblical and theological helps, music and worship resources, and a glossary of terms. For youth there is the Confirmand's Journal, which presents stories, quotes, illustrations, and questions, as well as space for journaling and reflection. The journal is also designed to be used as a resource for dialogue with a mentor.

Each of the 22 sessions provides leaders with step-by-step instructions to engage youth in such topics as worship, the Bible, God's mission, and the UCC Statement of Faith. The material can be adapted for group sessions, retreats, or mentoring programs. Congregations using thementoring option need to provide the confirmation's journal to mentors as well.

Units include Community Life; Our History and Heritage; God; Jesus Christ; the Holy Spirit; the Church; and God's Girls and Our Response.
