The Interpretation of Dreams by Sigmund Freud became the foundation for a new scientific methodology, therapeutic treatment, and cultural consciousness. None of the books can compete with The interpretation of dreams so far. Freud successfully makes his point clear within the first 50 pages of the book. The concept is clear to the reader. The book contains about 200 dreams and valuable information about the dreamers' life experiences related to their dream. Much of the book is dedicated to analysis of the dreams of either Freud or Freud's patients. Freud’s wish fulfillment theory from its origin to consequence is interesting to read. One of the arguments that Freud uses to support his wish fulfillment theory is that the mind can do nothing but fulfilling wishes, and because being conscious we can’t fulfill a wish. So, its possible during the sleep state, it was done in the form of perception. He introduces the incest dreams; anxiety in dreams. But he hasn’t explained it much. Overall conclusion of Freud’s interpretation of dreams is follows - all dreams are the mind's subconscious effort at wish fulfillment. However, his theories have be consistently modified with new discoveries but it was Freud who introduced the links between dreams and wish fulfillment. This book is an interesting read. You come to know fascinating facts about dreams. This book works as a teaching tool and as a guide to self-analysis.
