The book “Let’s Kill Gandhi: A Chronicle of his Days, the Conspiracy, Murder, Investigation and Trial” is brought out in hardcover by Rupa Publisher. It is written by Tushar Gandhi, grandson of the legend Mahatma Gandhi. The author writes about the last days of Gandhi ji before murder and the investigations and trails post murder. The author’s main intention is to clear his illustrious grandfather’s name and reveal the numerous inaccuracies that left the murder mired in controversy, one that still remains in Indian people’s mind. There is a whole generation that does not regard Gandhi ji as a great man who showed the way to freedom without violence. Many of us think that Gandhi ji was responsible for the Partition and moreover he was partial towards the Muslim’s favour. This fact may be a reason that caused his murder by Nathuram Godse, a hindu extremist on 30 Jan 1948, few months after India got its freedom. The author burrows right into the controversies and the myths associated with Gandhiji and his murder. Through the films like Raj Kumar Hirani’s cleverly etched out Gandhigiri in ‘Lage Raho Munnabhai’, Kamal Hasan’s ‘Hey Ram’ and ‘Gandhi My Father’ we are getting to know the actual Gandhi ji. There seems to be no better moment for the truth to be revealed as now, when there is a interest of people in reading about Mahatma Gandhi. The author put an honest effort to demystify the controversies associated with Gandhi ji. This is an brilliant book with simple language by Tushar Gandhi put a clear picture of everything that happened in 1948. This book makes a good read for all.
