Horatio Nelson, a younger son of the Vicar of Burnham Thorpe, in Norfolk, had been born on the 29th of September, 1758. He was small in size, and delicate in appearance, but from his earliest childhood of a singularly dauntless character; and fortunately had a maternal uncle, Captain Suckling, who in the course of the Seven Years' War.had distinguished himself very highly in a brilliant action with a very superior French force.
