Being an ardent lover of Dan Brown's books, I had to get my hands on the "Deception Point". Every bit intriguing and a page turner to the 't', Deception Point is a real treat to readers.
As the name suggests, the core theme of the book is about deception and this time around, Dan Brown has chosen not to shatter ceilings and break codes. He has, for a change, trained his guns on the NASA. Although NASA and deception seem quite unlikely, trust Dan Brown to weave out fiction from the strangest yet interesting plots.
The novel is set during the election season in the US. There is a challenge raised on the Government spending on NASA which yields precious little benefits for the general population. The challenger is Sedgewick Sexton who corners the incumbent president Zach Herney and wins most of the pre-election opinion polls.
His daughter Rachel is one among the chosen four that are handpicked by the President as independent observers, of a discovery made by the NASA. They are instructed to validate NASA's claim that a meteorite was discovered in the icy climes of the Arctic region. The meteorite as per the claim had some form of life in it.
The claims seem faulty and when one of them picks up the flaw he gets killed, even before he could discuss it with anyone. The remaining three, chance upon enough evidences to prove that the claims are false. Along with this discovery, the observers discover that their precious lives are in danger. But who is after their lives and why? Well, all this and more, is best read from this well written book by Dan Brown.
