Obama: The Historic Journey

This book is really an interesting read and a captivating documentation of Barack Obama's rise to become the 44th Presidency of the United States. Surely, when I saw this book, I knew I had to get it. Instead of it being a sort of an ordinary documentation of a political event, it is a fascinating coverage of Obama's ultimate victory in the recent US Presidential election.

There are other books written on Obama's inauguration as president, notably by the Washington Times, but this one by the New York Times is simply excellent. There is more depth and substance in the treatment of the subject as it covers Obama right from childhood to his spectacular victory.

It is replete with photographs, articles, text of speeches, and other extremely substantial writing. The chapter about the US President's childhood and his parents is simply beautiful. Moreover, mentioned is an account his studies at college and also at the Harvard Law School.

Further included are many impressive and persuasive photographs of Obama with leaders like David Petraeus and Nicolas Sarkozy. The book also focuses on his interactions with the American people, his role as a community organizer, his political work in Chicago and a lot-lot more.

You'll also enjoy reading about other prominent characters that played an important part in Obama's road to the White House like Obama's wife Michelle, his children, Gen. Colin Powell, Tina Fey, and others.

There's little doubt that Barack Obama's presidential campaign and his subsequent victory has generated a lot of enthusiasm and fervour through out the country and also around the world. I'm recommending this book as a collector's item for all those interested in contemporary world politics and a keen interest in world leaders and personalities.
