J R R Tolkien has contributed to The Lord of the Rings as an author. John Ronald Reuel Tolkien (1892-1973) was a major scholar of the English language, specializing in Old and Middle English. Twice Professor of Anglo-Saxon (Old English) at the University of Oxford, he also wrote a number of stories, including most famously "The Hobbit" (1937) and "The Lord of the Rings" (1954-1955), which are set in a pre-historic era in an invented version of the world which he called by the Middle English name of Middle-earth.

  The Lord of the Rings is among my favorite books. This edition has all the three “ Lord of Rings “ books. This is an high fantasy book by J. R. R. Tolkien. The story starts as a sequel of The Hobbit. It is written in stages between 1937 and 1949. The book opens with Bilbo celebrating his "eleventy-first" birthday. Bilbo is now well over one hundred years of age. He chooses this birthday to pass on the ring to Frodo, his heir. In doing so, it is Frodo that becomes the central character of the novel. What amazed me while reading the book the exceptional writing ability and the astounding imagination of the author. I liked the book more than the movie as the movie was slow paced in some portions while the book gripped till the end. This book is an amazing achievement.
