The Godfather Book Description

Tryant, blackmailer, racketeer, murder, his influence reaches every level of American society. Meet Don Corleone, a friendly man, a just man, a reasonable man. The deadliest lord of the Cosa Nostra. The Godfather.nnA modern masterpiece, The Godfather is the epic story of organised crime in the 1940s. It is also the intimate story of the Corleone family, at once drawn together and ripped apart by its unique position at the core of the American Mafia. Still shocking more than a quarter-century after it was first published, this compelling tale of blackmail, murder and family values is a true classic.

2 customers found the following review helpful Mixed Feelings!!!

In this transaction, there were some initial hiccups due to seller's carelessness. He sent me a different book altogether. After I contacted Infibeam with the issue, I was asked to scan and send the cover of the book that I received. This sounded quite foolish to me. I can randomly send any soft copy to prove my case, if I want. So trust is the basic thing. My feedback is that if a customer comes with such a complaint, step should be taken for rectification. However, the fact that a courier person was sent home to collect the wrong book is something that impressed me. Sites like eBay ask customers to courier stuff on their own in such situations. I was extremely happy with the service at this stage.

Chilling Story of Organized Crime in The USA

I’ve had a copy of Mario Puzo’s Godfather and there’s much to write about it, but as this is just a brief review of the book, I’d rather get along with it. It’s been amongst the fastest selling books on the planet in the times it was launched way back in 1969 and has sold more than 21 million copies world wide. The Godfather movie was based on the novel, which was released in 1972. The book has also inspired two sequels to the original film, titled Godfather II and Godfather III. The book is about mafia controlled American society. The story revolves around Don Vito Corleone and his three sons Sonny, Freddy and Michael. He also has a daughter Connie. The book has several characters and they all are revealed in the sort of lengthy introduction that starts with the wedding scene of Connie. If you want to really get involved with a book, fall in love with it, get inspired and influenced by the characters, want to keep repeating the various phrases of the book a numerous number of times then the book you should read is Mario Puzo’s “The Godfather”. Set in the 1940’s, the story is riveting and powerful reminder of the Sicilian family organized crime that existed in the United States at that time. There are other rival groups in the book that oppose Don Corleone such as the Tattagialia family, the inner intricacies of organized crime in the United States, and the operations of tinsel destinations like Hollywood and Las Vegas. The book had an appealing touch. It was an edifying experience to read the book. On a personal note, the film version also captures the appeal of the book in a grand way.
