Bourne Ultimatum (Paperback)

This is the third and last book of the Bourne series. The earlier two were The Bourne Identity and The Bourne Supremacy. The book is set 13 years after the Bourne Identity, and 8 years after the Bourne Supremacy. The book starts with the attack in the carnival. Jason Bourne -a mild-mannered, 50-year-old professor rebuilt from the psychological wreckage of the CIA's deadliest assassin leaves the wife and kids to do battle with Carlos the Jackal, his Soviet-trained counterpart. However, there are only a handful characters surrounding Bourne that truly deserves your attention namely Marie, Conklin (Jason’s best friend), Dr Morris (Jason’s psychiatrist), Peter Holland (Director of CIA). There’s no lack of heroic men and women, political agendas, government organizations, military forces and corrupted individuals, which definitely makes reading “The Bourne Ultimatum. All the characters are well shaped but legendary assassin Carlos’s character was hard to believe as as he was such a bad guy by reading his scenes.
The Story attempts to be this web of intrigue, and deception. The story line is mysterious and well written but it is too long and slow paced sometimes. Otherwise, it is a good read.
