About the Author :

A financial journalist by day and a writer by night, Meghna Pant is the editor of a business magazine. She has formerly worked as a TV anchor for NDTV Profit and Bloomberg-UTV. Her short stories have been published in over a dozen literary magazines, across four countries. An avid traveller, Meghna Pant has stayed in various cities around the world, from Mumbai and Singapore to Zurich and New York City. She is currently based in Dubai.

  Amara - A One and a Half Wife

  A one resembling a girl-next-door, anything that can happen in Amara Malhotra's life is decided only by her mother's wish or God's wish or His wish, 'His' referring to her future husband. A typical Indian household it is, full of dreams and hopes of landing in the U.S. The dream is achieved as the family realizes its American dream but what awaits them in the foreign country is unexpected. A failed marriage turns Amara a One and a Half Wife and eventually her character, too. A nice read that will take you to the United States with the Malhotra family!

  A great first attempt

  Meghna Pant's One and Half Wife is a compelling read among the recent books by Indian Authors in English. The story flows smoothly from one plot to another making it a must read for all. The author’s characterization and description are so real that one seems to develop a instant bond. Amara's feelings and helplessness in described in a fashion that one feels that she will come to life anytime. The subtle details and twists in the story making it an interesting read till the end. In spite of being a little simplistic, it is a fabulous first attempt and is recommended.
