About the Book :
‘This is my story. And the story of my people.’
The Valley of Masks examines the pathologies of power, purity and dogma to give us a frightening yet ultimately redemptive vision of the future. In the words of Ashis Nandy, critic and social commentator, ‘This brilliant, superbly imaginative but terribly disturbing novel transcends borders, cultures, reading habits and literary fashions. As a story of the inhumanity of any human search for absolute perfection, it probably has no parallel in our literature. As a fable, it has a moral that will return to haunt you.’

i am at loss of words to describe this book, it is a wild and erotic at times, deep and dark at other times ,but once you start reading it you just cant leave it, mind you it has the extremes of all , violence , emotions , everything ,not for the weak hearted, i am a big fan of tarun tejpal books, though still my favorite book from him remains his first" the alchemy of desire".
The Valley of Masks, another fiction from Tarun Tejpal is all about power, purity and dogma. It is one of the brilliant and superbly imaginative narrations of our time. I have been reading Indian English literature for the last two decades and have never encountered with such a brilliant piece of writing that has grabbed me from the world. After every chapter, I had to put the book aside and contemplate over that chapter. A must-read for all Indians.I can vouch for this wonderful novel with confidence and surety; it’s not like any run-of-the-mill novel.
