Fujifilm FinePix S1500 Review
Excellent value for money
This is a great budget super zoom for somebody who wants to get good value for money. Having researched every model from Canon and Nikon, I couldn't find a reasonably inexpensive camera which also allowed for manual controls.
This camera is simply packed with more features than you can expect for any other camera at this price range from Canon or Nikon. Also most of the functionality is easily accessible through a single menu so it is comfortable enough.
One thing I really like is that the Flash is manually set by pressing a button, so you don't accidentally get a flash for scenes you don't want the Flash to work.
Direct flash is a bit too strong for nearby objects and there is a definite flatness about the result.
Feels solid and has a nice handgrip. Unlike sleek and slim P & S cameras, this is a definite plus for those who like to keep a steady hand.
The button controls feel nice and crisp. A pleasure to hold in your hand and click away pictures!
To get optimal results with this camera, be prepared to select the correct shooting modes and also keep the ISO under 400. At ISO 400 there is visible noise and at 800 it gets quite grainy. But this is a standard in most P & S and superzooms because of the smaller sensors and high MP count.
Image stabilization really works well even in night mode, but expect softening of detail and a bit of noise (without Flash that is). Use of a tripod is recommended for best results in low light conditions like any other camera of this type. Autofocussing is fine and didn't notice any problems with it either. Again, haven't tested under all conditions yet but appears to be promising so far.
Received in excellent condition within 3 working days.
