THE LENS ELEMENTS

AUTO FOCUS

It’s a TTL phase-detection Auto focus, of which functionality is greatly enhanced through Sony’s wonderful Translucent Mirror Technology in facilitating subject framing – even when the subject is in motion. Cross sensors are another element which optimizes its function by perfecting tracking and autofocus performance in low light situation.  

This autofocus also features such focusing modes as single-shot AF, Auto AF, Continuous AF, Manual Focus; Focus area selection (including wide area / 15-point local frame selection / fixed centre spot focus), predictive focus for moving subjects, auto-tracking focus point and focus lock. Its sensitivity ranges from -1EV – 18EV, which is ISO 100 equivalent. Then, there is the AF Illuminator with the range of 1 to 5 m. It is for lighting up the subject and improve the focusing accuracy of flash photos.

TRANSLUCENT MIRROR TECHNOLOGY

Translucent Mirror Technology lets you continuously shoot at full resolution and accelerated full-time continuous phase-detection autofocusing – even when shooting Full HD movies. This technology enables reception of light both by the image sensor and autofocus sensor, which means the subject never gets out of focus.

AUTO FLASH

It’s built-in, Auto Pop-up, pre-flash TTL flash having 18 mm coverage. It features flash modes such as Auto (Flash-off), Auto, Fill flash, Red-eye reduction, Rear Sync, Slow sync. High-speed sync and Wireless modes require compatible external flash. 

TECHNOLOGICAL & FUNCTIONAL ASSISTANCE

Served by its 23.5 x 15.6mm (APS-C type), Exmor APS HD CMOS sensor with RGB primary color filter, 24.3 megapixels effective counts and image-sensor shift mechanism for image stabilization. While the Exmor APS HD CMOS sensor (APS-C size) lends exact details to your exposures, the 24.3 megapixels offer superb resolution. Large sensor boosts high sensitivity in low-light conditions and enhances background defocusing effects.

SHOOTING STILLS

This camera offers some fantastic shooting modes to boost your creativity in handling your shots. These include Sweep Panorama (Wide), Sweep Panorama (Standard), 3D Sweep Panorama (Wide) and 3D Sweep Panorama (Standard). Your photographic endeavors also gain considerably from the color modes, namely, sRGB and Adobe RGB.

You even have Image Quality Modes! These are Standard, Fine, RAW and RAW+JPEG. To reduce noise reduction, you’re offered long exposures at shutter speed which is longer in duration than 1 sec and High ISO settings.  

And, if you want to impart certain art effects to your exposures, then you have an impressive selection of Picture effects. All you have to do is to select any of these and release the shutter. Camera then automatically saves the exposures without the need of any editing software. Options of these Picture effects include Posterization (Color, B/W), Pop Color, Retro Photo, Partial Color (R, G, B, Y), Soft High-key, High Contrast Monochrome, Toy Camera, Soft Focus, HDR Painting, Rich-tone Monochrome and Miniature.

You can even stylize your exposures by selecting any of these: Standard, Vivid, Portrait, Landscape, Sunset, B/W, Saturation and Sharpness.

XGA OLED TRU-FINDER

With such color contrast, accuracy and clarity it displays your subjects, you can form exact idea about how the end-result, that is, the photograph would look.

The fast OLED response works towards removing the possibility of motion blurs and residual images seen while tracking moving subjects or displaying recorded movies.

SHOOTING SETTINGS

These include:

Exposure Bracketing: Allows you 3 continuous exposures selection in 0.3 or 0.7-stop increment.

White balance bracketing: Allows you 3 frames, H/L selectable.

Continuous shooting: Allows you to shoot continuously at the rate of up to 10 fps in Tele-zoom Continuous Advance Priority AE mode and up to 8 fps in Continuous mode. The continuous shooting limit is 18 frames in Fine and Standard mode, 13 frames in RAW and 11 frames in RAW+JPEG.

The self-timer setting offers 10 sec and 2 sec.

Excellent Display

The 7.6 cm, 921, 600-dot TFT Xtra Fine LCD with TruBlack technology, offers 100% field of view. It means a display which looks much more like a display than most displays do!  

Viewfinder

This color electronic viewfinder offers 100% field of view, 1.09x magnification and Eye Relief, which offers approximately 27mm from the eyepiece lens and 22 mm from the eyepiece frame as per CIPA Standard. It also features diopter control setting of -4.0 to +3.0 m.
