Open, the weekly current affairs and features magazine, is the flagship brand of Open Media Network, the media venture of RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group.
Open is aimed primarily at the resident Indian reader, gives its readership a more commanding geographical sweep, adding to its growing subscriber base and readership in the country a loyal following outside India. Open addresses the progressive, globally minded Indian as its target reader, and tries to stay faithful to its promise of not dishing up regurgitated news or majoritarian opinion. Open set out to be original and stimulating, and stays true to that secret covenant with its readers.
In some ways, Open is three magazines rolled into one neat, organic bundle. The first section of the magazine, called Small World, is a zippy 10-12 page selection of the most relevant and interesting news of the week from around the world. The middle section has sharp features on politics, sports, entertainment, science, technology, social trends, health, culture, and much besides. Finally, theres Mindspacea section consisting of literary essays and length features and tidbits on books and arts, science and gadgets, cinema and celebrity gossip, and a freewheeling last page, which in keeping with its spirit, is called Open Space.
