Barsaat Ki Raat Amidst fierce Qawali competitions, a poor poet/singer, Aman Hyderabadi, falls in love with Shabnam, the daughter of Police Commissioner Khan Bahadur. After Aman is humiliated by Bahadur, Shabnam and Aman elope and travel to Lucknow, where Aman changes his name to Kamal Lucknowi and hopes to earn a living by singing. But his voice gives him away and soon he will be hunted by a friend-turned-foe, Inspector Shekhar, who is determined to arrest him.

Dulari

Prem Shankar lives a wealthy life-style circa after the British Rule in India, with his businessman father, Girija, and housewife mother, Kamini. He is now of marriageable age, and his parents would like him to marry Seth Heerachand's daughter, but Prem wants to marry someone of his own choice, without any pressure from his parents. He befriends a young woman named Kasturi, who falls in love with him. Prem also meets with a gypsy woman named Dulari, and falls head over heels in love with her. When his father finds out, he is enraged, forbids Prem to ever see Dulari again, and warns him that he can only marry a woman from a good and wealthy family background. It is now up to Prem to decide to follow his father's instructions or do as his heart tells him.

Ek Saal

Bombay-based Usha Sinha lives a wealthy lifestyle with her widowed dad, a retired Colonel. During her birthday celebration at her grandmother's in Lucknow, she encounters a flirt, but avoids him, only to run into him again in a taxi-cab, and then in her very own house in Bombay. She finds out that his name is Suresh, who has been hired by her dad as a Manager. Eventually both she and Suresh fall in love with each other. Suresh appears to care a lot about Usha and even takes her to a doctor for a medical check-up to ensure her well-being, to which she agrees, without knowing that she has brain tumor and is not expected to live more than one year. What the Sinhas do not know is that Suresh does not love Usha at all, for his true love is a Lucknow-based woman named Rajani, and he is merely here to win their trust, so that he can be successful in robbing them of all their cash and valuables.
