ANGOOR The film is about two pairs of identical twins separated at birth and how the circumstances go haywire when they meet in adulthood. One pair of twins is of master (Sanjeev Kumar) and the other of servant (Devan Verma). Raj Tilak and his wife are on a trip with their twin sons whom they call Ashok. Since they look the same they should be called the same is Mr.Tilak's reasoning. As fate would have it they adopt another set of twins whom they call Bahadur. An unfortunate accident then divides the family leaving each parent with one child each and a servant. A few years later Ashok (Sanjeev Kumar) is married to Sudha (Moushmi Chatterjee) and Bahadur (Devan Verma) is married to Prema (Aruna Irani). They and Sudha's sister Tanu (Deepti Naval) all stay together. Into their lives enter the other Ashok a detective novel aficionado and Bahadur a bhang lover. Now there are two Ashoks and Bahadurs in the same city which is more than their family the Jeweler the Taxi Driver the Inspector and they themselves can handle. In this laugh a minute riot Gulzar's directed film of double trouble double comedy Sanjeev Kumar has done a splendid job for which he was nominated as best actor for Filmfare Awards. Devan Verma is just too brilliant in the role of severant. His sense of timing and performance got him the best comedian Filmfare Award.
Homi Mistry (Ashok Kumar), widower with four grown sons is a foreman in a factory. Mrs. Sethna (Pearl Padamsee) a widow, who is struggling to get along with two teenage boys and a grown up daughter. When they marry at the insistence of their common friends, sparks fly, sometimes with hilarious effects between the step siblings and the parents. Feroze (Rakesh Roshan), Mrs. Sethna's son loves Zarine (Bindiya Goswami) the daughter of Mr. Kerawala a money bags. When they mary secretly Kerawala does all he can to make trouble for the Mistry-Sethna family. But he has not bargained for the unusual group of kids, who give up their differences, unite and teach Mr. Kerawala a thing or two.
CHAMELI KI SHAADI
Charandas lives a poor lifestyle in a small town in India along with his older brother Bhajandas and Bhabhi. He is unemployed and commits himself to be a wrestler with Ustad Mastram Pahelwan who gets him to promise to be celibate until he is 40 years of age. But when Charandas meets with a school student Chameli the daughter of a low caste Coal merchant both fall head over heels in love with each other go on dates exchange love letters much to the chagrin of Chameli's dad Kallumal who has plans to be the next Municipal Chairman and mom Champa who decide to enlist the help of Champa's brother Chaganlal as well as arrange Chameli's marriage with Advocate Makhan the son of Lachuram who is of their caste. As events hilarious spiral out of control Charandas must now decide whether he prefers to be known as the semi senile lover Manju or as Prithviraj Chauhan who dared to abduct his future wife amidst stiff all round opposition.
