a young girl's life in holland during nazi horror

While there are people who argue the holocaust never happened and some others declaring that they admire Hitler, this book lets us see him through the eyes of the victims of his savage endeavours. Some chapters in this book are not appropriate for children, but still the book is considered a treasure for the horror it portrays in a style that is simple and a little childish- as would be expected from a young girl- and yet stark in recording the emotions and fears of the people of the book.

I feel bad for Anne but I still agree with the line when she says I think Hitler should fall into a bottomless pit!!!!!!

    Diary Of A Young Girl

I had previously read a small chapter from this compilation as it was included in my English prose curriculum, way back in school. Upon seeing this book at the bookstore, I could not help but pick it up. This is a translated version of a diary; a young thirteen year old Dutch girl maintained. Since it talks about her going into hiding and later about her life in the concentration camp, the book has garnered immense popularity; so much so that it is considered one of the most popular books of the twentieth century. The Diary Of A Young Girl provides a very human portrait of the Jewish suffering during the Holocaust. Anne and her family had to bear the brunt of the Nazi invasion. She later died of typhus while in the concentration camp. Anne Frank writes that her family lived in Frankfurt until Mr. Frank fled to Amsterdam with his family when the Nazi Germany became increasingly anti-Semitic. After the Nazis occupied Holland, Mr. Frank moved his family into the prearranged hiding place over the warehouse. They took residence in the ''Secret Annex'' where they spent two years hiding from the Nazis. The book portrays the lives of eight people, the tiffs, the understandings and the eventual separation. It is certainly a must read for all those who haven’t had the opportunity to read this book and I strongly recommend it.
