I just read this 2006 best seller ‘The God Delusion’-a non fiction work by the renowned Biologist; also a professional fellow of New College, Oxford. The book is indeed informative, as the author contends that a supernatural creator certainly doesn’t exist and that belief in a personal God is only a delusion which according to him is an unrelenting false belief. There is one particular instance which got me thinking. The writer says he is sympathetic to an observation made by Robert Pirsig's which states "when one person suffers from a delusion it is called insanity. When many people suffer from a delusion it is called religion." This book sure seems to have appealed to the masses, as it was one of the biggest grosser and within a year of its publication, the English version of ‘The God Delusion’ had sold over 1.5 million copies. What`s more, it has been translated into 32 languages. I would recommend the book to all who haven’t read it yet for the book provides a new insight. Certainly a must read non fiction by Dawkins Richard and an appropriate gift for all those who have not read this stirring book.
