Probably the best device I ever bought.

Infibeam Pi is something I've bought twice. I had gifted my first one to someone. I've bought alot of gadgets in my life ranging from some of the most expensive phone, laptops and now tablets. But Pi has been my best buy by leaps and bounds. Thanks for this wonderful product. :) A+

I bought a new ebook reader. It is the Infibeam PI. I have seen and used both the Amazon Kindle and Sony ebook reader. The main reason I selected the PI is because it was available in India. I did not have to wait for weeks to get my hands on it. I will not go into detailed comparisons between the three readers I have used. The reason I bought the ebook is to read books. Although that sounds rather a stupid thing to say, I found some features on Kindle quite superfluous to book reading. Like the space consuming keyboard. I dont know of any book which comes with a keyboard, so why should an ebook come with one. If I have to surf the net, I will use my laptop to do it. PI is very easy and intuitive to use. The reading is very clear and my impression was that it has better contrast than both Kindle and Sony e-reader. although I may be wrong and the "endowment effect" may be working here on me. The device is pretty light and is easy to carry around and also to read while lying down (the only way I read books). I had ordered a cover for the reader and that is the only part I was not fully satisfied with. The cover cost me Rs. 299 (about $6.5) and is actually pretty poor. It looks cheap and the quality is also not up to the mark. But luckily, the cover is NOT typical of the reader. The reader is pretty good and the only feature I think that would enhance it's attraction is to have a touchscreen. I know that it would bump up its price a bit, but maybe it would be worth it. Overall, even without looking at the price (cost me Rs. 9999 - about $222), PI is a great product and I would suggest all Indian buyers of ebook readers to try it before opting for a Sony/Kindle as long the latter are not available in India.

    2 days with the Pi

It's been my first two full days with the Pi and I've got enough opportunity to poke around with it to be able to share my first opinions here. Good: Beautiful device, sturdy, good screen, very readable, in short - everything that has been promised. Easy to use - pretty intuitive, one can get going without the user manual. Bad: SD Card was not recognized at the first insert; had to eject and reinsert a few times before it was finally recognized. There has been no problem since. The device hangs sometimes, I haven't really been able to pinpoint something that might trigger the freezing. However there is a reset button to recover. The UI is slow due to eInk technology screen, it might be resolved if there is a firmware upgrade from Infibeam

Con's ( for the manufacturer's 1 No dictionary. 2 No support for .lit format. 3 Hard button for full screen display. 4 No colour ( colour e-ink tech has just arrived) Overall, a great product to have, and it helps save trees too.

1 customers found the following review helpful Must buy for people who like novels

I purchased pi , pi cover and data card together from the site. Well the book reader is very good. I completed 4 books/novel in 15 days. The unique thing about it is very compact ,bookmarks reading status . However the price of the ebook on infibeam is too high. I expected they will reduce the price as for ebook version price is always less see amazon. In short it is very cool thing for reading novels , story books, religious books.etc

4 customers found the following review helpful Impressive but has its shortcomings

First of all the initial experience with the service was fantastic. Ordered for it one evening and the Pi was delivered the very next day. Well packaged and includes all the basic accessories. Would have liked it if they bundled in the case as well. Had a couple of doubts regarding the product which were cleared with just a quick call to the service centre.. Again kudos to the team for that. Now coming to the actual product.. Pros: Design and ergonomics wise its awesome.. Very sleek, light and portable. Loaded up a couple of ebooks to see how it fares the main test! Rendering is pretty good but it all depends on the layout of the pdf that you are loading. So each pdf will look different as per the font and layout that it has. So if it wasnt great in the first place don't expect Pi to do some miracles! Clarity of the screen and viewing angle is very impressive Cons: The biggest shortcoming I feel was the screen contrast. The text is just not dark enough for my liking. The text is very crisp but looks somewhat faded in contrast. I dont know whether this is the case with all ebook readers, the Pi or just the one that I have. Im surprised that no one has pointed this issue out which makes me wonder whether it is just my piece. Would appreciate it if someone threw light on this. Unlike a normal book you need to have very good lighting around for easy reading. Apart from that a bigger screen would be nice in future versions. Also the keys need to be a bit softer. Because of the smaller screen size you will have to scroll a lot so the key quality does matter Infibeam sure has done a good job with the Pi but it has much more potential. I would strongly suggest you get your hands on one physically to see if you are comfortable with it before buying it.

I m the among the few pioneer owner's of the 'Pi' and i hope i first user to write the review of this product. I am now well versed with all the features of 'Pi'. I would like to mention its Pros and Cons Pros: 1-Light in weight and on your pocket too! 2- E Ink feature is good 3- The product booklet mentions that it doesn't support SDHC type of SD card but in fact it supports. 4- The battery has long support. 5- Sudoku is awesome ! Thanks Cons: 1- Hangs some times, to get out of it, you have to take the battery out and it will restart. 2- It doesn't support CHM files and you have to download the CHM to HTML converter to make your files work. 3. Only digital editions of pdf work. 4- Doesn't support the PNG files, so you have to have only JPEG files. 5- Infibeam is launching the accessories now only. I really need a leather cover for my 'Pi'

Thankyou for introducing this excellent E Reader at an affordable price. I pre-ordered it with some amount of hesitation, but I congratulate myself now. I have already attached 4 GB extension and loaded some 1000 books, still there is space for more. My reading time has increased by 200%. The only problem I had was that it got stuck a couple of times, but after pressing the reset key, I could solve the problem without loss or damage to the books already stored. Unlike other E Readers somehow it automatically restreams the page width according to the font and size we choose and reading is absolutely effortless and easy. One grouse I had was that there was no leather cover. But now that cover has also come, I have immediately ordered it. It is always advisable to protect the E Reader with a leather cover to protect it from accidental damages. I may order one for my son after a couple of years - I am waiting for Infibeam to introduce different coloured cases and more storage space. I would advice any booklover to invest in this
