This hatchback is stylish and spacious though it looks small. The big horizontally split radiator grille with a body-coloured crossbeam and the brand logo placed right in the center, adds to its appeal. Performance wise also it is good in comparison to Hyundai Getz Prime. U-VA gives mileage of around 10.5 in city while Getz gives around 9. But it has certain draw backs which I came to know when I asked to a friend who owns it. For instance, the steering panel is engineered for right hand drive, not left hand drive. Hence, the positions of the indicator and light switches are interchanged. This might be difficult to get used to. Also noise is being made when one changes gears. So when one is going to buy a car, it should not merely judged by its looks. As it has certain drawbacks, one should think twice before buying it.

I decided to buy Chevrolet U-VA, after carrying out a through research in various automobile related websites and after checking out with my friends having different vehicles. I bought the car from a dealer in Chennai and today I have no regrets. After having driven the year for a year, I have a strong feeling that the car has been designed for congested roads, and obviously Chennai roads fall in that category . Minimal gear change is required and it’s very smooth, and at times you would think that the engine is not on (So smooth) Car is spacious for 5 people and even the boot space is sufficient for a small family , I have driven in the highways as well as within city and my highway mileage is 16 + and my city mileage is 11+ which is good enough for this car in this segment. Moreover, the maintenance cost of this vehicle would not cross Rs.16,000 for 3 years and it is also reported that GM is willing to pay any additional amount spent on maintenance, if it goes above Rs.16,000. What else you can ask for?

Chevy Uva is a respectable vehicle. Internally it is more spacious than the Spark. It has a very responsive engine, with good acceleration and braking. However, certain drawbacks may act as a dampener. For instance, the steering panel is engineered for right hand drive, not left hand drive. Hence, the positions of the indicator and light switches are interchanged. This might be difficult to get used to. Leg space and ceiling height are limited at the back. The gearbox is also not up to the mark. It’s tough to change gears frequently and quickly. If the road is quiet, when you change gears you can actually hear the levers and internal mechanisms shifting. This is not good design. In comparison, the Spark has a better gearbox. The dashboard and seats are set very low. This gives trouble when pressing the clutch or brake, as your left thigh will keep banging into the underside of the steering wheel.

I am from Bangalore and just a few days back I got a chance to test drive U-Va. To very true, I was plain unhappy with the performance. Though the car looks good and has good interiors and exterior, the suspension is pretty lousy. There is no music system coming in the highest model as per the high price. The gearbox is rough and not smooth as WagonR or Swift. And with the Ac on, you can find the car behaving like a diesel car. It takes lot of force to run. Very bad pickup and worse pickup with AC on and 5 people sitting inside. The city mileage is somewhere between 10-12 km/l. With all these -ve points, someone should think twice and thrice before going for this car.

My primary researches on the premium hatchbacks in the country helped me arrive at two cars basically, first, the Hyundai Getz and then the Aveo U-VA. However, the test drive was going to be the deciding factor for me. As i got into the car, the first feeling i got was that the car is quite roomy and comfortable. Sitting in the driver's seat, it feels more like driving the Optra due to the low seating and extended leg space. - And seriously you can compare it to Corolla. As you rev-up the engine you feel the Getz may be more smooth and refined. The steering is light. But...the gear box feels stiff. It's not as effortless as the Getz. The interiors are rich and the dash is well designed. large storage spaces. Moreover the car seems tough and rugged, the body is heavy so it sticks to the road pretty well. So, overall, the U-VA's sure-shot selling proposition is comfort, space, luxury, and big car feel. The Getz scores on power, better gear box-(light and quick); it's a pleasure for the driver. The Getz body-metal is very light so it gives a (old) maruti zen like feel. Finally, i think i'll go in for the U-VA. It's got class, good looks, good interior, decent power and comfort. The getz prime new look is the "awful" interiors as cheaper plastics and upholstery dominate.
