The Hyundai Elantra is a comprehensive entry-level car for the luxury segment. It has superb aerodynamic looks with European looking style and body design. With sophisticated safety features like advanced brake assist system, electronic brake force distribution, and traction control system, it is a cool pick well that is well marked for performance and safety.

It is available in two four cylinder configurations as a 1.8 litre DOHC petrol engine as well as a 2.0 litre Turbo Inter cooled CRDi Engine. This engine meets the latest Euro III norms.

Alongside, it is equipped with powerful ancillary features like the Electronic Brake Force Distribution System (EBD), Transaction Control System (TCS), Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) and Energy Absorbing Collapsible Steering Column (EACSC), it available as three variants - Elantra GT Decontent, Elantra GLS (leather), Hyundai Elantra CRDi Decontent & and Elantra CRDi. This variant comes with a 16V DOHC five speed manual transmission petrol engine that offers a respectable fuel economy of around 14.2 kmpl on the highway and around 9.1 kmpl in city conditions. It offers an overall mileage of around 10.1 kmpl. However, it has a large fuel tank capacity of 55 litres which reduces the need for frequent refilling.

The Elantra comes with a load of comfort features. These include standard air conditioning, power windows, power door locks, power steering, anti-lock braking system, central locking, child safety locks, rear defogger and AM/FM radio with cassette player among others.

Other brilliant interior features include door arm rest, foot rest, large glove box, front seat belts, front door map pockets with bottle holder, retractable assist grip, cabin heater, and front seat belts. Also included are full cloth upholstery, tachometer, digital odometer, glass antenna, and rear centre armrest with box among others.

Noticeable exterior features include body coloured door bumpers and door handles, front and rear mudguards, rear defogger and timer, chromium coated front grill, and all round tinted glasses.

With Hyundai's top concern on safety features, this variant is provided with a load of safety features including central locking system, impact sensing DR unlock, child proof rear door locks and clutch lock.

Winner of Hyundai

When I purchased Elantra two years back, I compared with Skoda Octavia, Corolla, and Optra before making the final decision. Truly I couldn't stop people from asking about the car after a first look as this has a European look and not that visible on city roads like it's peers. Its a power plant and true value for price. Driving Elantra is very smooth and comfortable. I mostly travel on highways rather than city and it easily gives me an average of 11.5 km/pl. The well built ABS and TCS gives perfect driving control. AC is chills quickly. Music is system is like disco, quality of the sound system is very good but only problem is its a MP3 player. Steering and road grip is also excellent.

Value for money

I bought Elantra 5 months back and feeling good about it. She is a beauty in looks and nothing like her in performance. Holding her makes me feel really proud and satisfied. The gear shifting is very smooth and she glides on the road. Riding on highways is absolute fun and comfortable. Even at a high speed of 180 km/hr, she is steady and gives you the perfect control. There is ample space inside the car and she provides comfortable seating for everyone. Only thing about her is she is extremely thirsty than others in the market in her category. Moreover she is excellent and I am satisfied.
