The Santro Xing is Hyundai's national favourite and the country's largest selling car in its segment. It is powered by a 1086 cc Epsilon engine, which is based on Distributorless Ignition Technology (DLI). There are quite a few reasons for the popularity of this car. The wind tunnel designed body of the Santro presents a low drag co-efficient. Moreover, the Santro Xing has a large radiator and a massive bumper air dam to take full advantage of the airflow. This enhances operating efficiency by keeping the engine cool even during extreme operating situations.

For the price charged, Santro Xing delivers an amazing 63 Ps of power at 5500 rpm. The DLI system lends amazing fuel efficiency, increased power and low maintenance costs.

For better manoeuvrability on Indian roads, this car features the world renowned McPherson Strut Suspension. Also included is a stabilizer bar in the front section, along with a torsion beam axle with offset coil sprints and hydraulic dampers in the real section of the vehicle. This variant is the five door non AC version of Santro Xing. With a seating capacity of 5 people, it is equipped with Hyundai's renowned Epsilon 1086 cc petrol engine and 5 speed manual transmission, which provides a fuel economy of around 11.8 kmpl in city driving conditions and around 16.8 kmpl on the highways.

The engine follows Euro III norms. The fuel tank capacity of this variant is 35 litres. This variant incorporates stick gear shifting and frequent clutch. The front brakes are ventilated disc type, whereas the rear brakes are vacuum assisted self adjusting drums.

This variant comes with a standard power assisted steering. Standard features such cup holder, child lock, and remote boot and fuel lid are provided with the eRLX. However, other standard features such as air conditioner, power windows, power door locks, anti-lock braking system, power steering, driver and passenger air-bags, and immobiliser are not provided on this model. Some essential comfort features like four speed blower fan, cabin heater, low fuel warning, and remote tail gate release are also provided with this model.

The exterior of this variant brags of some neat features like clear headlamps, twin clear combination lamps, driver OVRM chrome radiator grills, refined seat fabric, and front chrome grills. Choose from a range of exiting colours - real earth, husky blue, noble white, passion red, bright silver, and ebony black.

The interiors of this variant are equally advanced with a brilliant 3 spoke steering wheel, ash tray, anti-submarine front seats, rear seat head restraints, double folding rear seat, and a stylish ashtray. Also provided are room lamp and floor console.

This variant of Santro Xing features some unique safety features like dual member side protection beams, sub-frame, cross bar under the dash panel, seat belts for driver and occupant, child safety rear door locks, and high mounted stop lamps. Good Car

I wanted to buy a car just for 4 persons as we are in my family. There were other options open to me like Maruti,
Zen, Alto, Wagon R besides Santro Xing XL. I test driven all of those and finally opted for Santro Xing due to its
performance.

The ride in Santro always used to be a smooth and joy ride for me. Its pick up is not lessened while AC or heater is
on as compared to Maruti or Alto.

It has got great power steering which makes it a viable car to drive in city traffic. Along with petrol version, it
can be equipped with CNG also.

But only drawback which can be termed as is that if a person is of a great height, one cant opt for Santro as it is
a small car. It may be of considerable difficulty to enter in the car.

But all in all a good small family car.

Santro Family

This is my first review and I have just bought a Santro 10 days back and I have not much about the car so all I just wanted to add is about the different research I had in its segment. I have planning to buy a small car since last year but due to insufficient funds had to wait for sometime. With a plan of using the car am buying today for next 4-5 years I have checked all the small cars available in the market. The list is Maruti 800, Alto, Santro, Zen and Swift. Maruti 800 was the last option as it is very general car and normal in looks but has good performance. Had a test drive of Alto and it is really good but as soon as you switch on the AC you can find that there is noticable drop in the power. Maruti's Zen, as always you are bound to love it but only problem with it is its too low for heighted person like me and there is no enough legroom space. I even checked Swift and loved everything about it. But, I was not in a condition to afford Swift at present due to some other commitments. At the end, Santro is the one that satisfied all my needs with power, mileage, space, looks and price. Now am also one of the Santro family.
