Thus it is easy on the pocket of those who want to graduate to owning their first car, or those who want to migrate from the Maruti 800. Maruti claims it to be the most fuel efficient car in the A+ segment.

The Alto is high on safety features too such as side impact door beams, rear door Side impact door beams, rear door child safety lock ,Clear lens headlamps ,Rear caps, collapsible steering column, High rigid monocoque frame made of high tensile steel, and front & rear seat belts, and booster assisted brakes.

Maruti Alto LXI is the top level feature laden variant presentation from Maruti in the Alto series. This variant features the efficient 796cc friction free engine with MPFi fuel system technology. The 32 bit ECM computer delivers superb fuel efficiency making it the most fuel efficient car in its segment.

It presents optimum power and torque, thereby good acceleration and handling in city driving conditions. The power unit is connected to a five speed manual synchromesh gear box meaning thereby smooth gear shifts albeit physically.

I currently own Maruti 800 and want to buy a new car in the same range and more specifically from Maruti family only. And I found Maruti Alto the apt choice for me. I am having a small family of 4 which can easily accommodate in this small and compact car. It is upgraded version of Maruti 800 having power steering and inbuilt AC. In a congested place like Ahmedabad, it is a good car to opt for in traffic clad areas. It is a car which suits the person driving it. It gives good fuel mileage in comparison to the base models of Hyundai Santro Zing and Fiat Palio. It has all the basic features a small car needs to have with the cost which is all affordable. It can rightly be said to be a good family car.

I got rid of my Chevrolet Spark to bring in the Maruti Alto LXi. The Maruti Alto LXi feels very much in tune with the Indian scenario. I guess the Alto LXi is the neatest car in the small car segment. I especially like the interiors and the electronics that came with it. Mileage is also nice and gives good performance on the highway.

Looking at the traffic congestion in my city (Pune), I thought that it would be wise to go in for the Maruti Alto LXi as my second car rather than going in for a large sized car. The Alto is a great family car that can seat up to four people comfortably. Yes, we own the Hyundai Verna also, but it is more convenient to take the Alto out especially on errands around the town or to drop the kids at school.

It'€™s great to own an Alto LXi especially in a town like Hyderabad. I previously owned a Maruti 800, which I gave up to own the Alto. I traverse back and forth in the Alto, and I find it very trustworthy and fuel efficient indeed. I obtained a fuel economy of around 17 kmpl after the first service. Honestly, I keep the air-conditioning on in around three instances out of ten. My friends say it'€™s got the coolest looks, but I know it'€™s the power steering and solid brakes that help me go across 35 to 40 kilometres every day. I always use Speed and not the normal fuel, and always maintain standard tyre pressure. It'€™s always best to drive in the economy zone of 40-60 kmph to get the best fuel economy. The air-conditioning has a tendency to drag down the fuel economy, but at speeds at 50 kmpl and above, this is not usually a problem. The Alto can comfortably accommodate up to four people, but a hefty guy in the front may need to be a bit acrobatic while manoeuvring to get comfortably seated in the car. I could get five in once, but accelerating this compact vehicle to an appreciable speed was a bit tough as the car revved up and struggled for torque. Anyways, that'€™s the best I could expect from the Alto'€™s little engine. All in all, it'€™s a great car for a compact family.
