Tata Indigo is India's first Sedan model - a mid size C' segment completely indigenous sedan. For the price that it is offered, this model is quipped with a host of features that offer extravagant comfort and imposing luxury, offering complete value for money.
The Tata Indigo petrol version is powered with an 85 BHP engine, while the diesel version features a turbo-charged engine with an intercooler. The Direct Injection Common Overhead Rail (DICOR) is based around a 1396 cc Direct Injection Common Rail 16 valve engine that features (DOHC) technology with a Variable Geometry Turbocharger (VGT). The DICOR delivers a maximum power of 70 PS at 4000 rpm along with maximum torque of 140 kg-m at 1800-3000 rpm.
The petrol version delivers a maximum of 85PS @ 5500 rpm with a maximum torque of 11 kg-m at 3000 rpm. The turbo charged diesel version delivers a 1405 cc Indirect Injection Engine that is capable of delivering a maximum power of 70 PS at 4500 rpm and a torque of 13.5 kg-m of 2500 rpm.
Additionally, the Tata Indigo comes with a range of features that are specific to India. The front seats have additional lumbar and thigh supports to provide more comfort during long distance drives. Further, the Indigo has a longer wheel-base of 14 compared to 13 bases in other standard C-segment competition.
Furthermore, the Indigo has more safety features that even surpass European Standards. Some of these characteristics are a fire-preventing inertia switch that reduces fuel leakage during accidents, rear safety belts, collapsible steering wheel, side-impact beams, and rear cum frontal crumple zones.
The Tata Indigo LS Dicor (Diesel) features the 32-bit microprocessor based 1396 cc DICOR(Direct Injection Common Rail) 16-valve engine with Dual Over Head Camshafts and a Variable Geometry Turbocharger(VGT) that delivers good power and torque, thereby meaning good performance, acceleration, and handling. The Indigo LS Dicor is the entry level variant in this series with entry range price tag.
The Tata Indigo LS Dicor delivers a fuel economy of approximately 11 kmpl to 16.5 kmpl depending upon driving conditions. It has a fuel tank capacity of approximately 42 litres, meaning fewer refueling stops on longer journeys.
The Tata Indigo LS Dicor is loaded with features like black door rub rails, front grille with chrome surround, dual beam headlamps, body coloured front and rear bumpers, new front fog lamps, new wheel caps, manually operated outer rear view mirror, sill valence covers, HVAC and air-conditioning system, power steering, sporty steering wheel, and manual front and rear windows.
