Tata Indigo is India's first Sedan model - a mid size C' segment completely indigenous sedan. For the price that it is offered, this model is quipped with a host of features that offer extravagant comfort and imposing luxury, offering complete value for money.

The Tata Indigo petrol version is powered with an 85 BHP engine, while the diesel version features a turbo-charged engine with an intercooler. The Direct Injection Common Overhead Rail (DICOR) is based around a 1396 cc Direct Injection Common Rail 16 valve engine that features (DOHC) technology with a Variable Geometry Turbocharger (VGT). The DICOR delivers a maximum power of 70 PS at 4000 rpm along with maximum torque of 140 kg-m at 1800-3000 rpm.

The petrol version delivers a maximum of 85PS @ 5500 rpm with a maximum torque of 11 kg-m at 3000 rpm. The turbo charged diesel version delivers a 1405 cc Indirect Injection Engine that is capable of delivering a maximum power of 70 PS at 4500 rpm and a torque of 13.5 kg-m of 2500 rpm.

Additionally, the Tata Indigo comes with a range of features that are specific to India. The front seats have additional lumbar and thigh supports to provide more comfort during long distance drives. Further, the Indigo has a longer wheel-base of 14 compared to 13 bases in other standard C-segment competition.

Furthermore, the Indigo has more safety features that even surpass European Standards. Some of these characteristics are a fire-preventing inertia switch that reduces fuel leakage during accidents, rear safety belts, collapsible steering wheel, side-impact beams, and rear cum frontal crumple zones.

The Tata Indigo XL (Petrol) features a 1396 cc petrol engine with 32 bit microprocessor fuel management system that delivers good power and torque, thereby meaning good performance, acceleration and handling.

Equipped with power steering, the Tata Indigo XL petrol features a whole load of features like body colour bumpers, alloy wheels, power windows, central locking, rear defogger, rear ac vent, and fog lamps.

Tslking about TATA Indigo grande Xl,an A3 segment car launched by TATA Motors some 1-2 years ago look more like a fusion of Merceded and Maruti Omni....strange but true. The boot space in the rear seats is awesome, very big in its class much like that of a benz but to increase that, they have cut short a lot on driving comfartibility as the bott space in the front is very less much like that of an omni where the steraing and the front seat almost feels like kissing each other
One of the other drawback is the flat roof structure which gives it a very blunt look as compared to the curved roofs in most of the A3 segment cars that sets it aback among its competitors.
In short,TATA Indigo grande is a 'stretched' version of TATA Indica as is the child has grown in heights but yes the engine is awesome, greatttttt performance, pickup. The technicalities have been very well taken into consideration but its design is what holds it from making a boom into the market.
