COLUMBUS, Ohio - Safelite AutoGlass, a division of Belron US, received a 2008 Corporate Caring Award April 10 in Columbus recognizing its philanthropic and employee volunteer efforts.

The awards, presented by Business First newspaper, salute small, medium and large companies for corporate philanthropy in the categories of arts, education, environmental and civic and health and human services. Safelite was specifically recognized as the best large corporation in the arts area for its ongoing financial support of the Columbus Symphony Orchestra.

"We live and work in this community, so we think it's important to be a good corporate citizen and take a leadership role in giving back," Randy Randolph, chairman of the Safelite Charitable Foundation said. "We try to instill this sense of 'paying it forward' to our associates by encouraging them to volunteer and take part as they see fit. The more people who give time and resources back to the community can only make it better for everyone."

Safelite and its employees contributed to or volunteered with more than 36 organizations in 2007. Safelite also contributed $470,250 to nonprofits and charitable organizations in 2007.

"Safelite's commitment to giving back is a company philosophy that has been in practice for more than 15 years," Randolph said. "As a national company we see a great opportunity to expand our efforts across the United States. We want our associates nationwide to be giving back to their local communities."
