TORONTO, ONTARIO - ZENN Motor Company Inc is evaluating the potential sale of its fully electric vehicles in Canada in light of the Quebec Ministry of Transportation's announcement that it has introduced a province-wide, three-year pilot project that enables Low-Speed Vehicles (LSVs) in the province of Quebec.
"This is a significant reversal to the previous legislative hurdles that prevented ZENN Motor Company from seriously considering sales activity in the Canadian market and as such, the next step for our company is to fully evaluate the market in the context of this new initiative", stated Ian Clifford, CEO of ZENN Motor Company. "Expansion into the Quebec market will require the establishment of proper sales and service channels and we are actively assessing this to try and bring the ZENN to Quebec as soon as possible."
Quebecers can sign up today to demonstrate their support for bringing the all-electric ZENN (Zero Emission, No Noise) to Canada. A waiting list has been established at its website whereby consumers can formally state their interest in purchasing a ZENN and receive future e-mail updates as expansion plans progress. Canadian pricing has not yet been determined, but it is anticipated to be comparable to the ZENN's current MSRP (Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price) of US $15,995.
"The all-electric ZENN is proudly manufactured in Saint-Jerome, Quebec, and we are delighted with the Province's environmentally progressive initiative to support low-speed vehicles," added Clifford. "This pilot project will further prove the viability of low-speed vehicles in mixed-use environments and Minister Boulet should be commended for her leadership in promoting safe and sustainable transportation solutions for Canadians."
The ZENN is currently sold exclusively throughout the United States. The ZENN is road-legal in 44 out of 50 states and is used extensively in mixed-use environments.
The ZENN LSV is ideal for both city core and neighbourhood driving. With a federally regulated maximum speed of 40 km/h, the ZENN is permitted by this pilot project to travel on roads with posted speed limits of up to 50 km/h. The ZENN two-seater hatchback has a typical range of 50-80 kilometres, can be recharged to 80% capacity in as little as four hours from a completely empty "tank" simply by plugging into a regular wall outlet and has plenty of cargo capacity for a week's worth of groceries or a couple of hockey bags. The ZENN is the ideal second car for families, or the perfect fleet vehicle for use in Tourism, security applications, parking enforcement, meter reading and more.
Given the rising cost of fuel in Canada, the ZENN is a cost-effective and environmentally friendly alternative to gas-guzzling and polluting conventional vehicles. Driving a ZENN versus a conventional vehicle can prevent over six tonnes of CO2 per year from the entering the earth's atmosphere. And with roughly one tenth the operating costs and the convenience of 'filling up' at home, being socially responsible has never been so easy or made more sound financial sense.
With Head Offices in Toronto, Canada, ZENN Motor Company is dedicated to being the global leader in producing zero emission transportation solutions for markets around the world. The Company's current ZENN car is the perfect vehicle for urban commuters, fleets (such as resorts, gated communities, airports, college and business campuses, municipalities, parks and more), the environmentally conscious driver, and consumers who just want to save money. The ZENN is sold through a growing network of retailers across the United States.
