After the success of the inaugural Fighting Torque 2007, Javelin trackdays in association with Toyo Tires bring you a unique event, to pit man and machine against the clock over a standing mile, and this year it promises to be bigger and better.
The event is being held at
Sports cars of all makes and models are selected to run against other similar and closely matched cars, to see how a Lamborghini measures up to a Ferrari, a Noble to an Ultima GTR, and a Porsche against a TVR.
The answers are provided by electronic timing at both the quarter, and the measured mile.
Last year’s event showed some surprising results from the 92 cars entered, and last year’s winners are back to defend their titles for 2008.
Cars registered so far include Porsche GT2/3 and Turbos, a genuine American Dodge Charger police car in full livery, Lamborghini Gallardo, Maserati Spyder, AMG Mercedes, various Nobles, Ultima, Tvrs, and Dodge Vipers.
We also have the Toyo Tires World’s fastest Sierra Cosworth appearing at the event.
Prizes and trophies are generously donated by Toyo Tires, and range from goody bags, to discounted sets of the fabulous range of
Toyo performance tires.
The event will be filmed for both Javelin/Toyo and Pistonheads TV who are also running a car in the event.
Entries are invited by applying on the Fighting Torque website open until 31st July 2008.
he entry fee is £125, and includes admission to the venue for the driver and a passenger.
There will also be a limited number of supporters allowed on site, and spectator admission can be purchased on the website for £25 pp.
Any owners of Bugatti, Ferrari Enzo / F40, Koenigsegg, Mclaren SLR or similar who would like to take part, can contact the organisers to arrange a free VIP entry to the event.
