Mercedes-Benz showcases green innovations

The British International Motor Show is featuring a number of Mercedes-Benz models and the automaker is using the opportunity to showcase its environment-friendly credentials.

A range of ‘TrueBlue Solutions’ is being displayed by Mercedes-Benz, giving drivers the opportunity to see what innovations are helping to contribute to clean motoring.

Set to appear in future models, the BlueEfficiency technology aims to reduce emissions while increasing fuel economy - without compromising on exceptional Mercedes-Benz performance.

Innovations such as ’start-stop’ technology and improved aerodynamics are helping the cars to become increasingly efficient.

Using ’start stop’ technology allows the car to reduce its fuel consumption in city traffic, saving fuel and reducing emissions.

Some models could run on 60mpg with much of the technology due to come onto the market in 2010.

Meanwhile, Mercedes-Benz is continuing its environment-friendly developments through the introduction of the smart ed in February 2009.
