Canon Singapore, together with Merelion Pictures, is proud to celebrate Singapore’s upcoming National Day with the release of “Kallang Roar The Movie”. This cinematic production was shot on quality high definition video using Canon’s professional high definition XL H1 camcorder, and celebrates Singapore’s win in the 1977 Malaysian Cup, bringing back nostalgia of the year that saw the restoration of Singapore’s nationalist pride.

David Foo, the Director of Photography (DOP) for “Kallang Roar The Movie” couldn’t agree more. “Canon’s XL H1 was our natural choice based on 3 key factors. First, recording directly on tapeless format retains the original high quality digital format on hard disk. This omits additional time spent during post-production hence saves time and money. Second, I can immediately playback and view what was being shot without the need to do extra takes as backups. And finally, the Canon XL H1 costs a fraction of the conventional expensive six-digit figure equipment, yet it produces the same high quality in the broadcast film industry,“ says David.

The Movie Roars:
“Kallang Roar The Movie” focuses on football as set against a backdrop of Singapore in the 1970s. For football fans, 1977 is a year that many will always remember, with Singapore triumphantly taking home the Malaysian Cup from across the Causeway. And it is the year “The Kallang Roar” victory cry rang the longest and loudest in the nation’s 43-year history. See movie synopsis on page 2.
