'eBook' is an 'electronic book'. It is the digital version of a printed book which can read on Computers and reading-devices. eBooks are available in a variety of different formats, the most popular being PDF. For reading and purchasing specific formats of digital material, you must download and install the associated software. For example -
Once you have decided which title to purchase, click on the 'add to cart' link to add the title to your Shopping Cart. Subsequently, upon successful 'checkout', you will be directed to a download page where you can click on the 'Download' button to download your purchased item to your computer.
You may defer downloading ebook at a later time, but please make note that for some formats the download link remains active only for an hour duration after which it needs to be reactivated again by the content-provider.
Download links will always show up against your purchase in your account. In case a download link gets expired, you will be redirected to an error-page from where you may reactivate those download links.
Follow these steps to start reading ebooks:
Upon clicking 'Download' ebook link, your system (Computer) will automatically open the downloaded device with the reader-application installed on your system.
For example in case of PDF's and Adobe EPUB ebooks download - your system will automatically launch Adobe Digital Editions and Adobe Reader 6 and 7 to save a copy of the downloaded eBook to your computer. The method you use to access your eBooks depends on which software you have.
If you have Adobe Digital Editions...
(Please note that Adobe and Microsoft eBooks can be downloaded three times only from the site, one being your PC/Computer. Once downloaded you may always share the eBooks with other devices registerd with same adobe-id or microsoft passport.)
A downloaded title remains on your computer unless you manually delete it. 'My Account' is a history of purchased titles maintained at this site. Titles can be re-downloaded using the 'My Account' feature by clicking on the 'My Account' link.

If you are using Adobe eBooks -
Adobe eBooks can be used on multiple machines (5-6 devices depending on the Adobe policy of authorizing the devices) if you are using Adobe Digital Editions or Adobe Reader 6 or 7.
If you have Adobe Digital Editions -
Adobe Digital Editions must be activated using an Adobe ID in order to share purchased eBooks among multiple computers. When you first open Adobe Digital Editions, you are prompted to activate, or authorize, your computer.
If you have Adobe Reader 6 or 7 -
To use Adobe eBooks on multiple machines, each machine must first be activated to the same account using Adobe's 'Named Activation' option. To activate Adobe Reader 6 or 7 using the Named Activation option, click here.
Adobe Reader 8 does not offer stand-alone support for Adobe eBooks and does not support the transfer of Adobe eBooks to portable devices or other computers. Note that Adobe Reader 6 or 7 may check for updates and download Adobe Reader 8 automatically depending on your current settings.
Please note that Adobe Reader 6 is no longer available for download. If you upgrade to Adobe Digital Editions or Adobe Reader 7 or 8, you will no longer be able to reinstall Adobe Reader 6.
If you are using Microsoft Reader
Microsoft Reader eBooks can be used on different devices using Operating Systems like Microsoft Windows 98 platforms, Microsoft Windows NT4 SP6, Microsoft Windows 2000 platforms, Microsoft Windows XP.
Microsoft Reader must be activated using an Microsoft Passport in order to share purchased eBooks among multiple computers. When you first open Microsoft Reader, you are prompted to create a Microsoft Passport account and activate, or authorize, your computer.

Adobe Digital Editions / Mobipocker Reader are the de-facto software for the most popular ebook formats. They have been tested over time on most hardware platforms.
