One of my favorite autobiographies. you must read it because without reading this you'll never know that how amazing that person was, who wrote this...
I read benjamin's autobiography which he wrote for his son 2 year back & found it really interesting the way benjamin used to inculcate various skills by very unique methods.Like he used to read various proses & used to write them without looking at the original copy & used to find mistakes & then correct them. What a man he was,a great writer, inventor, banker, there is a long list to go.A must read for entrepreneurs.
Benjamin Franklin is very much a man of his time. He concerns himself with God and self-improvement. This book is a kind of time machine that puts you straight into the Eighteenth Century. Though the autobiography is unfinished, it does contain quite a bit of information about young Benjamin Franklin, his beginnings in the printing business, and his later entry into public life. He also give significant detail into his reasons and methods for starting the first public library and the first public fire department. Great read and I've never considered myself a history person.
Benjamin Franklin is a personal hero for a lot of reasons and reading this book gave some insight into the man that I previously did not have. I never knew he practiced vegetarianism and never knew his philosophy on a range of things. Its hard not to come away with a healthy respect for the man after reading this one.
I had no idea Benjamin Franklin was such a man of affairs. He had a large hand in expanding the postal service, creating the militias of Pennsylvania and other states, founding the impetus for lending libraries in the US. He was a principal legislature in Pennsylvania and composed numerous charters for organizations he founded, great preparation for forming the Constitution. He describes his early life, which is a classic story of American industry, thrift, talent and ambition. He gained considerable business experience before he was 21, getting a jumpstart on life. His writing is a model of clarity and dispassionate description and has been used as a model for learning the art of writing. He downplays any great drama or adventure--this book is not the Three Musketeers. But it is a deserved classic in a number of ways, historical and inspirational.
