About The Book
Book of Homonyms is the first book ever compiled that provides quick reference and easy access to homophones and homographs. It will be a much sought-after resource for secondary school students who are serious about improving their written and spoken English.
Homophones have been provided to help students use correctly spelled words in any writing genre. Homographs, on the other hand, assist students in delivering the correct pronunciation when speaking in English.
This book is very handy and should be used along with an English dictionary and a thesaurus during writing tasks such as essay writing, report writing, letter writing or speech writing. Moreover, it will help in sharpening and strengthening pronunciation in spoken English. Designed to build communication power, Book of Homonyms enables students to grow as effective writers and speakers.
About The Author
Kepan Winuan was born in Wewak, East Sepik Province, Papua New Guinea. In 1970, his family moved to Hoskins, West New Britain Province where he began his schooling at Buvussi Community School five years later. He did his secondary education at Hoskins High School from 1981 to 1984, and in 1989, he entered Dauli Teachers College and graduated a year later with a Certificate in Primary Teaching.
While teaching, he completed a Diploma in Everyday English on flexible mode with the College of Professional Management (Great Britain), which gave him a solid foundation in English. The desire to teach at secondary schools led him to matriculate with the University of Papua New Guinea Institute of Distance and Continuing Education (UPNG IDCE), and in 2000, he attended UPNG where he studied Accounting.
He returned to the classroom in 2003 and was elevated to secondary level. He now teaches English and Accounting. With the need to qualify as an English teacher, he did his second degree with UPNG externally, focusing on Literature and English Communication. His profound involvement in teaching writing skills eventually led to the birth of this book, his first.
