Rakosh Das Begamudre
has been actively engaged in teaching, research, development and consulting in electrical machinery, control of machines and extra high voltage power transmission for nearly five decades at universities in India, United States and Canada. He holds the B.Sc. (Engineering) degree from the Banaras Hindu University (B.H.U.), the A.I.I.Sc. (Masters) degree from the Indian Institute of Science (Bangalore) and the Ph.D. degree from the Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania (U.S.A.). His training in large rotating machinery and transformer engineering was at the factories of Messrs HITACHI Ltd., in Japan. He was manager of Walden North Enterprises in Lillooet, Canada, working on motor control and energy problems.
The author has worked with eminent professors in these fields such as Principal M. Sengupta at the B.H.U., Professor K. Aston at Roorkee University, Professors L.V. Bewley and A.R. Miller at Lehigh. He has held faculty positions at the universities of Mysore, Roorkee, Banaras, Lehigh, the Royal Military College of Canada and finally was Visiting Professor at l.l.T. Kanpur.
