Description

The tipping point is that magic moment when an idea, trend, or social behavior crosses a threshold, tips, and spreads like wildfire. Just as a single sick person can start an epidemic of the flu, so too can a small but precisely targeted push cause a fashion trend, the popularity of a new product, or a drop in the crime rate. This widely acclaimed bestseller, in which Malcolm Gladwell explores and brilliantly illuminates the tipping point phenomenon, is already changing the way people throughout the world think about selling products and disseminating ideas.

The Tipping Point by Malcolm Gladwell is well written book. Gladwell is a great author and thinker. Gladwell researches on tipping points and where the tipping points are made in history. The book's concept is powerful and explained very well by Gladwell. The book focuses on tipping point – its phenomena and demonstrations. The author defines tipping point as a time when an idea becomes popular among a certain group of people. This implies the way of spreading new ideas and techniques. Gladwell also examines the difference in personality it takes to trigger the change. The best illustration for me is about an island Micronesia where no youth commits suicide. But once, a young man hangs himself to death and then the teens started experimenting with suicide because they found this thing new for them. The book is full of examples that illustrate his ideas broadly. Gladwell uses data and theories from many studies. His best explanation is the description of crime New York city. Overall, the book shows how small actions and changes can make a big difference. This book inspire to bring change for better. The Tipping Points is an fascinating read.
