Allergy whether it is in the skin, in the form of sneezing, running nose or an asthmatic attack following exposure to cold or pollution has become a very common disease in every family. There is hardly anyone who is not aware of the common allergy tablets like Avil, Actifed, Alday or Citzine. This disease has become so common that people buy these tablets from the drug stores on their own and take for a few days. It is estimated that one in every six teenagers suffers from nasal allergy or allergic asthma these days.
Till some years back, it was not so common in India (as compared to the Western countries), but now with the pollution levels going up, it is becoming common here too.
People who are allergic are -oversensitive- to many things or items. It could be dust, fumes, perfumes, drugs, pollen, animal hair, house mite, suspended particles in the air, a particular food or even a change in outside temperature. The mechanism by which the body reacts so vigorously is now known to the medical science, but what is not known is -why the allergy should actually occur?- Medical science still does not have a definite answer about why allergy has become so common.
