This book has been written for the students of B.Tech. courses in physics and being run in K.U. Kurukshetra, M.D.U., Rohtak and Ch. Devi Lal University, Sirsa. The language is simple and adaptable, and the size of the book is also reasonable.
Each chapter covers with solved examples, wherever possible and exercises have been given for practice. Some chapters like
Quantum Mechanics, Properties of Magnetic Materials
etc. contain extra materials for the sake of completeness. Also, a new topic Gauss
has been added in chapter-29 under the heading 'Special Topics'.
About the Author(s):Dr. H. C. Sharma
has wide experience of teaching as well as research. Before doing Ph.D. in 1971, Dr. Sharma worked as a lecturer in D.A.V. College, Amritsar for three years. He remained Post Doctoral Fellow in Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra from 1971 to 1974. Therefore, Dr. Sharma served in Physics Department, Kurukshetra University in various capacities and retired in Oct. 2000 as Chairman and Professor, Physics Department. During this period of 26 years (1974-2000) Dr. Sharma taught M.Sc. classes and remained an active researcher. He has guided two Ph.D. and ten M.Phil. students. Besides, Dr. Sharma, theoretical Nuclear Physicist, has published 50 research papers/popular articles, both in National as well as International journals. Presently he is working as HOD, Applied Sciences in Haryana College of Technology and Management, Kaithal.
Dr. Rajesh Kharb
has also got eight years of teaching as well as research experience. There are about ten research papers to his credit.
Dr. Rajesh Sharma
has recently completed his Ph.D. from NIT, Kurukshetra. He has ten years of teaching experience of B.Tech. classes. He has also been associated with a number of research publications in the field of Nanotechnology.
