About the Book
This textbook of Plant Anatomy and Embryology has two parts.Part One deals with Plant Anatomy which includes a wide range of topics starting from the fundamental unit, the cell, and covering details of the internet structure of root, stem, leaves, flowers, fruits and seeds, meristematic and permanent tissues, normal and abnormal secondary growth, etc. Topics such as Nodal Anatomy, Anatomy of Floral Parts, Fruit Wall and Seed Coat, Ecological Anatomy and Systematic Plant Anatomy will be of special interest to students. The text being simple and lucid compounded with natural and true-to-life illustrations, marks a special feature of the book.Part two deals with Plant Embryology and Palynology, and covers the structural life style, suitably divided into different chapters. Topics like Apomixis, Polyembryony, Experimental Embryology, Sexual Incompatibility, Classical and Applied Palynology, etc., will certainly feature awareness in the subject. The upgraded text matter studded with flow charts, comparative tables, and clear and lucid illustrations will be helpful in developing better understanding of the subject among the students. The book by virtue of its authoritative coverage, should be most suitable to undergraduate as well as postgraduate students of all Universities and also to those appearing for various competitive examinations such as CPMT, DME, DCS and IAS.
About the Author
Dr. Pandey obtained his Master's Degree from Agra University with first division and first position (1966) and, since then, he has been teaching undergraduate and postgraduate classes at the D.A.V. College, Kanpur. His contributions to the field of research and writing of books are well known. He is co-author of A Textbook of Botany (3 Vols), Plant Physiology, A Textbook of Algae, A Textbook of Pteridophyta (all published from Vikas), Advances in Botany (3 Vols), Water Pollution, Industrial Pollution and Plants (2 Vols). He is Chief Editor of the Research Journal of Plant and Environment and Co-Editor of Advances in Psychology (2 Vols). His research papers have been published in National and International Journals. He has attended several International Conferences and visited several countries: U.S.A., Germany, Switzerland, France, Austria, Italy, etc. He is the General Secretary of the International Society for Plant and Environment.Dr. Mrs. Chadha obtained her M.Sc in Botany with first division and fourth position from Kanpur University (1969) and, since then, she has been teaching at the S.N. Sen P.G. College, Kanpur. She is co-author of A Textbook of Botany (Vol. III), published by Vikas, Advances in Botany (3 Vols), Industrial Pollution and Plants and Advanced Botany (3 Vols). She is an active crusader for Environment Protection and is also conducting research in the same field.
