About the author
Amjad Ali Khan is one of theundisputed masters of the musicworld. Born to sarod maestroHaafiz Ali Khan, he gave his firstperformance at the age of six,and is credited with reinventingthe technique of playing thesarod. Over the course of adistinguished career spanningmore than six decades, AmjadAli Khan has won numerousaccolades including a Grammynomination, the Crystal Award bythe World Economic Forum, theSangeet Natak Akademi Awardand all three Padma Awards. Hehas performed at venues theworld over including CarnegieHall and the Royal Albert Hall,as well as at the prestigiousNobel Peace Prize Concert in2014 in Oslo, Norway. Samaagam,his first sarod concerto, hasbeen performed by the BrittenSinfonia, Orchestre National d'llede France, Orchestre d'Auvergne,London Philharmonia,Gulbenkian Orchestra, WelshNational Opera and ScottishChamber Orchestra. Amjad AliKhan has also been a visitingprofessor at Stanford University,University of New Mexico andJacob's School of Music.
